Stewed cabbage with meat and mushrooms is a favorite dish of many people. The meat turns out to be very tasty, juicy, mushrooms give the dish a special aroma and make it very appetizing. This dish goes well with different types of side dishes, but it is best complemented by mashed potatoes, buckwheat and barley porridge. On average, a portion of 150-180 g of such a delicacy has 375 calories, therefore, despite its exceptional taste and aroma, it is not recommended to eat it every day.

Stewed white cabbage with mushrooms and meat

There are many recipes for stewed cabbage with meat and mushrooms, but the basic set of ingredients remains the same:

  • meat - sirloin, most often pork, but you can use chicken or turkey meat - 400-500 g;
  • fresh mushrooms - champignons - 250-300 g;
  • white cabbage - 500-700 g;
  • onions (white or yellow) - 2-4 pcs.;
  • tomato paste 2-3 tbsp spoons (or ketchup 3-5 tbsp. spoons, or 2 tomatoes);
  • salt, pepper, spices and herbs.

In addition, you will also need about 0.5 cups of vegetable oil for frying, it can be sunflower or olive oil. Ingredients such as carrots and bell peppers may also be added, depending on the recipe.

The process of cooking stewed cabbage with mushrooms and meat, a photo of the stages of which can be found below, also differs little from recipe to recipe. The sequence of actions can only be supplemented by some stages when adding additional products to the dish.

The dish is prepared as follows:

1. Vegetables are washed, peeled and chopped: onions are cut into cubes or half rings, carrots are rubbed on a coarse grater, cabbage is finely chopped, mushrooms are cut into slices;

2. The meat is washed under running water, dried with a towel, cut into cubes 3x3 cm or long strips 3x1 cm and sent to a preheated pan with sunflower oil. Fry over high heat with occasional stirring;

3. As soon as the oil has become transparent in a skillet with meat, onions are added there, after 5 minutes carrots are sent, after another 5 - mushrooms. Stew for 20 minutes and season with spices and tomato paste;

4. Finely chopped cabbage is added to the pan with vegetables and meat, everything is thoroughly mixed and stewed over low heat under a lid for 35-40 minutes.

5-7 minutes before the end of cooking, the pan or cauldron must be opened slightly so that excess moisture evaporates and the dish does not turn out to be "wet" and slimy.

Stewed cabbage recipe with meat, potatoes and mushrooms

Among the variety of recipes for preparing this dish, any gourmet will be able to find exactly the one that he will like. Some of the most popular variations of this dish include the recipe for cabbage with mushrooms, meat and potatoes, a recipe in which it is used both fresh and sauerkraut, as well as a recipe for this dish with the addition of beans.

All these dishes are prepared according to the same scheme, which is described above, so even a beginner in cooking will not have any difficulties, but the composition and proportions of products are different.

So for cooking stewed cabbage with meat, potatoes and mushrooms, you will need:

  • 0.5 kg of white cabbage;
  • 200 g of champignons;
  • 0.3 kg of potatoes;
  • 0.5 kg of pork;
  • 2 medium carrots;
  • 5 tbsp. spoons of ketchup;
  • herbs, spices, salt and herbs to taste.

In addition, you will need 3.5 cups of boiling water.

The potatoes are peeled, cut into small cubes and a ready-made mixture of vegetables and meat is added to the floor 25 minutes before the end of cooking, along with 3.5 tbsp. boiling water. It is recommended to simmer the dish under a slightly open lid over medium heat for a total of 35-40 minutes.

Cooking stewed sauerkraut with mushrooms and meat

To prepare stewed sauerkraut with mushrooms and meat, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 500 g fresh and 300 g sauerkraut;
  • 250 g champignons;
  • 0.5 kg of carrots;
  • 1 sweet pepper;
  • 4 onions;
  • 5 tbsp. tablespoons of concentrated tomato paste;
  • Salt, spices to taste as always.

The dish prepared according to this recipe turns out to be incredibly fragrant, beautiful and just melts in your mouth. Sauerkraut is added to the pan 20 minutes later than fresh, along with chopped sweet pepper strips, after which the stewing process lasts another 20-25 minutes.

To prepare a very satisfying stewed cabbage with meat, beans and mushrooms, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 0.4 kg of white cabbage;
  • 200 g fresh champignons;
  • 150 g white beans;
  • 1 carrot;
  • 3 tomatoes;
  • 2 onions;
  • vegetable oil (sunflower);
  • salt, pepper, laurel to taste.

The cooking process is similar to that described above, with the only exception that the beans, which are present in the recipe, require preliminary preparation. It needs to be sorted out, rinsed and soaked for 2-3 hours, then boiled until tender, introduced into the dish 10 minutes before the end of cooking.
